Tulsa Police Increase Patrols At Apartment Complex After Multiple Break-Ins

Tulsa police say nine break-ins have happened in the past month at a West Tulsa apartment complex. They are so worried, they have started special patrols at night to see if they can stop it.

Police say of the nine break-ins, eight of them fit a specific pattern. They happened between 1 a.m.-6 a.m. at the Westport On The River.

In five of the cases, the thieves came in through an unlocked sliding glass door and each time, the victim was home.

One pried open a window and one found a window that was open and cut away the screen. That victim heard him and scared him away before he made it inside.

Some of the tenants were surprised to hear about the break-ins.

"I don't like that, don't like the thought of break-ins,” a new tenant named Richard said. “Scary thought."

Another man told us they have plenty of locks in the apartments and if people would use them, they'd be safe.

Police say the crime spree started Oct. 21.

They believe it's a pair and they take things that are small, tablets, wallets, purses, even car keys.

They say two men stole keys early Friday morning and were trying to find the car in the parking lot when officers spotted them and the thieves took off and got away.

We tried to ask management about these burglaries, but they told us they had no comment and we weren't welcome on their property.
