Dry air has allowed temperatures to drop into the lower 40s this morning along with clear sky and light north wind. The wind speeds will remain in the 10 to 15 mph range from the west and northwest for most of the day. The fire danger is much lower today compared to yesterday, but dry conditions and northwest winds will lead to a small fire danger for northwestern sections of the area.
Highs will move into the mid-60s today with sunshine and north winds.
Friday morning lows in the lower 30s are possible along with some frost or light freezing temperatures for a few locations. Friday afternoon highs will move into the lower 60s with clear sky and north winds. Friday night football looks great.
Saturday morning lows in the 30s will be followed by highs in the 60s.
The next system will arrive Sunday night into Monday as another mid length upper level trough will approach the southern plains. South winds will increase Sunday allowing low level moisture to return across the area by evening. We'll keep a good chance of showers into the area for this period for Sunday late into the early Monday morning.
Monday into early next week features another major upper level trough nearing the southern plains. This will eventually result in more thunderstorm chances Tuesday but the differences in the models don't offer a high confidence on the timing of the system. We'll keep a good chance for showers and storms in the Tuesday forecast but some changes will more than likely occur. One scenario would bring cooler air over the state Tuesday night into Wednesday.
