Two months ago, News On 6 Reporter Tess Maune and photojournalist Michael Blair were on their way to a story when they spotted a truck on fire in Pawnee County.
Tess dialed 911. When Michael realized no one was around, he grabbed a nearby water hose and began fighting the fire.
Today, at the Pawnee County Firefighter Games in Maramec, crews from the area made Michael and Tess honorary volunteer firefighters for pitching in to help where they saw a need. They presented them with nice engraved plaques and thanked them for their service to the community.
Michael and Tess also helped out with the annual games, working as judges for the various firefighting competitions.
Firefighters competed in water combat, hose connect, truck pull, bucket brigade, dead man drag and wild hose capture.
