Community Food Bank Celebrates Backpack Program's Birthday

There’s good news in the fight against hunger in Green Country; the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma's backpack program is celebrated its 10th birthday.

They marked that with a special birthday party.

The Backpack Birthday Party happened at the food bank near Peoria and Pine.

There was food, games, and opportunities to volunteer time to put together backpacks, to make sure children have food when they go home from school on the weekends.

Eileen Bradshaw with the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma said, "Over the course of ten years, thousands and thousands of children have been helped. But that only came with the efforts of thousands and thousands of volunteers who have packed the bags, and thousands of donors who allowed it to happen."
