After a couple and three of their seven children were murdered in a gruesome scene in Broken Arrow this week, neighbors still are in shock.
David and April Bever, along with three children, were found stabbed to death. Police found the youngest – a 2-year-old girl – unharmed, and a 13-year-old with survivable stab wounds.
The suspects are the two oldest brothers, ages 18 and 16.
Officers said the 13-year-old named her brothers as the attackers before she was taken to a hospital for surgery.
It’s words like this that break Sue Majors' heart. She lived next to the Bevers and their seven children for years.
"When my husband was sick, they made him a birdhouse out of popsicle sticks and it was the cutest thing with a get well card,” Majors said. "… One snowy morning, they can come and cleared a path from my house to the mailbox."

David worked from home and April homeschooled the children. Other neighbors claim the children rarely were seen outdoors and didn’t socialize with other kids.
Majors said all the kids had cell phones and the older boys constantly were on the Internet.
The Robert Bever she's used to seeing was neat, polite and always willing to walk her dog or work in her yard.
The Robert Bever accused of stabbing his parents and three siblings to death, along with his 16-year-old brother Michael, is a stranger to her.
"Even the big ones took care of the little ones,” Majors said. “To think they turned around and killed them is beyond me."
Majors said every time April went to the store, the whole family went.
She said the parents took the kids to the space museum and to see the fireworks at the river and every Halloween, all the kids dressed and went trick-or-treating.
She said the entire family would be in the pool together in summer.
“They all seemed so close,” Majors said. “This just comes as a total shock."
Police said Robert and Michael Bever are talking to investigators about the crime and say there's nothing about Robert’s mugshot that shows grief or remorse.
Police contacted family members to help care for the 13-year-old girl who's recovering in the hospital, and the 2-year-old girl who was not hurt is in the care of relatives.
Majors hopes the girls find comfort in each other.
"I just can't, for the life of me, imagine what happened,” Majors said.
Majors said Robert Bever used to tell her all the time that he wanted to grow up to become a doctor or a lawyer. She said she can't fathom how he went from having all those dreams and aspirations to accused of murdering his family.
