The community group called "We the People" wants to remove Tulsa County sheriff Stanley Glanz from office so it's petitioning for a grand jury investigation.

Once a judge approves the group's petition, it will have 45 days to collect the signatures of 5,000 registered voters in Tulsa County. If it gets those, a grand jury will investigate the group's complaints.

View the petition.

The group accuses Glanz of neglect, gross partiality, oppression and corruption in office.

If a grand jury makes a finding that Glanz should be removed, then a judge would hold a hearing to decide whether to remove him from office.

The group says since Glanz refuses to resign, this was their next legal option.

"This is something we need, we have to have it, it's almost like our right," said Marq Lewis, an organizer of the group.

This petition stems from the shooting death of Eric Harris by reserve deputy Bob Bates during Harris' arrest for selling an illegal gun to an undercover deputy.

Sheriff Glanz told me he does not have a comment about the petition.
