News On 6 will debut a weekend morning newscast on Saturday, April 4, 2015 and we thought you'd like to get to know the people who will be bringing you the news and weather. Anchor Erin Conrad will bring you the news, Meteorologist Stacia Knight will cover the weather. Stacia has been a member of the News On 6 weather team since 2012.
1. What was your first job in television news?
Do you consider an internship a job? I started as a weather intern for Travis a few months after I had graduated from college. After a few months, I was lucky enough to be hired on as a weather producer. I spent many evenings practicing weather presentations on the green screen and then they started letting me do our short weather forecasts on the website. From there, I was able to land an on-air meteorologist position. I can't say how blessed and thankful I am for the opportunities I've had at News On 6. One of my main career goals is to never stop learning and growing and that's what I plan to do.
2. You have 15 minutes of free time, what do you do?
Walk my dog! Max can't spend enough time outside. Rain or shine, snow or heat. Well, he's actually not a big fan of the summer heat but since I live in an apartment, I try to get him out as much as I can. Fifteen minutes is just enough time to walk him down two flights of stairs, follow him around, then try to coax him back upstairs (it's actually more like begging and pleading, then bribing with treats and toys).
3. What's in the console of your car?
If you opened up the console you'd find half a dozen disposable dog waste bags... the life of dog mother. Underneath those are the registration and proof of insurance papers. I don't really have anything exciting in there, unless a tire pressure gauge strikes your fancy.
4. What's your hidden talent?
This is gross but true. I can belch on command. I think that's all I need to say about it and I'll spare you the details. I just can't think of anything else.
5. What was your high school mascot?
Bulldog. I remember the basketball team would run out on the court to the song "Who Let Dogs Out?" Every time I hear that song during our Trav's Wild Weather Camps, it takes me back to the 2000s.
6. How would you describe Tulsa to someone who's never been here?
My short answer would be, Tulsa is a comfortable city. What I mean by that is, I grew up in a small town and moving to a city was exciting but also scary. Tulsa is a very welcoming city. It's not overwhelming and has SO many great things to do. The people are the nicest you'll find. My list of things I haven't done and want to in this city is continuously growing. Not to mention, the weather will keep you on your toes. You can experience all four seasons in one week.
