A small fire forced 300 guests out of their rooms at a downtown Tulsa hotel early Wednesday.
Tulsa Fire Captain Stan May said firefighters answered the alarm at the Hyatt Regency on East 2nd Street at about 12:15 a.m.
Because the hotel is a high rise, the fire department issued a second and third alarm to bring in extra firefighters to help with evacuating the guests.
May says firefighters put the guests in vans while they tracked down the source of the smoke in the air vents.
Firefighters say insulation in the ventilation system caught fire. Firefighters put out the fire and cleared the smoke from the building before allowing guests to return to their rooms.
May says EMSA paramedics treated several guests for inhaling a small of amount of smoke, but didn't transport any.
