Owasso Voters Say 'Yes' To Sales Tax Hike

According to the Tulsa County Election Board, the increase of three cents to 3.5 cents passed by a margin of 76 percent to 24 percent.

Owasso voters on Tuesday approved a half-cent hike in their city's sales tax. 

According to the Tulsa County Election Board, the increase of three cents to 3.5 cents passed by a margin of 76 percent to 24 percent. 

The city of Owasso says the nearly $4 million raised by the increase will be split between the police, fire and street departments. The increase will take effect on April 1, 2015. 

The city says the sales tax hike will cost the average family about $62 a year.
