The Tulsa women's soccer team captured a 3-0 win over cross-town rival Oral Roberts on Wednesday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. TU moved to 9-6-2 on the season, including eight wins at home, while ORU moved to 1-7-3 overall.

“The thing we talked about at halftime was that we needed to press more so we could counter off of that, which is exactly what happened,” coach Kyle Cussen said. “The girls came out with a lot of fire in the second half. It was great to see Annie get her first collegiate goal and then Tana got the next two. We scored three good goals and it was a good team effort. We love protecting our home field, and now we go on the road for three games to close out the regular season.”

The first half ticked off the clock scoreless, but Annie Sohmer scored on a combination from Alexa Sidorakis and Rachel Thun at the 60:58 mark for her first collegiate goal, which would be the game winner.

Tana Dake drilled in a goal from 30 yards out off of Roman Edwards' throw in in the 72nd minute, and then tallied a goal off a penalty kick seven minutes later for the final score.

Tulsa had a 9-5 lead in shots, including a 5-1 advantage in shots on goal, while both teams had two corner kicks.

Dake led the Golden Hurricane team with three shots, while six others had one attempt. Rebecca Defer played the full 90 minutes in goal, picked up one save and earned her second shutout in just two games played.

After the game, Tulsa honored lone senior Katelynn Duncan.

Tulsa will return to action on Saturday against Memphis. Game time is set for 7 p.m. in Memphis, Tenn.
