For Sale signs are posted outside Dollar Thrifty's former Tulsa headquarters. The new owner, Hertz, had committed to staying in Tulsa, but that may have changed.
Three pretty obvious signs out there and public records show more than 290,000 square feet worth of office space is now on the market.
However, Hertz which acquired Dollar Thrifty in 2012, said it is selling some of the space simply because there aren’t enough employees to fill it anymore.
Hertz is moving its headquarters from New Jersey to Florida and many of the jobs in Tulsa could be impacted, but Hertz wouldn't say if Tulsa should expect any layoffs in the future or exactly how many employees still work here.
What they did say, is the sale of some of these buildings just makes financial sense and it plans to consolidate the remaining employees into one tower and sell or lease the rest.
The company also reiterated that Hertz will continue to have a presence in Tulsa.
Most recently Hertz told News On 6 that 620 employees worked here and that a bulk of those will not be affected.
Hertz also said the process of consolidation already is underway, and as far as layoffs, Hertz said they haven’t released any of that information publicly.
