Hundreds of Owasso High School students gathered in the school's football stadium to pray for a classmate injured in a weekend car crash.

Friends of Spencer Richmond organized the prayer event Wednesday morning.

Richmond, a sophomore on the school's wrestling team was injured in a crash on the east side of town on Saturday, April 5, 2014. His best friend said Spencer was driving when his car hit another car causing his vehicle to flip six or seven times.

"Really it was tragic at first. I mean it still is, but knowing we have all these supporters and all my friends and all our family,it's really great how we're all coming together," said Payton Clawson, Spencer's friend.

An Owasso pastor led the prayer vigil at the stadium.

"I love it. I love Owasso. I love how we can come together um for one of our buddies. One of our own," said Hayden Moseby, student and teammate.

Spencer Richmond remains in the hospital recovering with his parents by his side.

Friends have created a Twitter hash tag #SpencerWinThisMatch and it has friends rooting for Spencer to recover.
