Southwire To Close Coffeyville Plant By 2015, Impacting 200 Jobs

Workers at the Southwire plant in Coffeyville, Kansas were told this week that the facility will begin shutting down operations over the next year, closing its doors in March 2015.

Southwire produces building wire and cable, utility cable products, industrial power cable, copper and aluminum rod, cord products, and communications cable.

A company official at Southwire's Georgia headquarters told KWON Radio, a Radio Oklahoma Network partner in Bartlesville, the Coffeyville plant was being phased out due to the company's purchase of Coleman Cable Company in February of this year.

Southwire maintains 13 plants across the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The company originally acquired the Coffeyville plant when it purchased American Insulated Wire Corporation in 2010.

Officials say the Coffeyville plant closing will impact about 200 employees.
