An 18-year-old Sand Springs driver who hit a Sand Springs school bus Thursday morning told the Oklahoma Highway Patrol the sun blinded him.

Troopers initially told News On 6 none of the four children on the bus were injured, but later said one child suffered an arm injury, but the child's parents refused medical treatment.

The OHP says the collision happened on Highway 51 just west of Highway 97 at about 7:30 a.m.

Conner Deery told troopers he was eastbound on Highway 51 and the sun was affecting his vision when he suddenly saw the bus. He told troopers he tried to avoid it but couldn't. The collision sent his 2003 Buick across the center median before it finally came to a stop on the westbound shoulder.

The school district sent a second bus to the scene to take the children on to school.
