The Tulsa Fire Department was called to a smokey grass fire on southwest corner of the I-44 And Highway 75 interchange Thursday morning.

The southbound lanes of Highway 75 were closed briefly while firefighters worked to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters got the fire under control quickly.

News On 6 meteorologist Alan Crone says with strong southerly winds in the forecast Thursday, there is a very high fire danger for eastern Oklahoma all day.

Oklahoma Forestry Services says the highest fire danger Thursday afternoon will be generally south of a line from Osage County to Cotton County.

OFS says to expect any fire starting to burn very intensely and exhibit erratic fire behavior.

The state agency says all outdoor burning is strongly discouraged Thursday, because any fire that starts has the potential to spread rapidly and easily escape control.
