A former Liberty teacher and coach pleaded guilty to misdemeanor sexting charges in connection to an underage student. Earl Stanley Tennial, 30, was booked into Tulsa County Jail on Tuesday, January 21.

Two felony charges against Tennial have been dismissed.

Tennial was charged after Liberty School officials brought the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office in to investigate the teacher's inappropriate contact with a 15-year-old female student. Investigators say Tennial admitted to sending texts to the student that were sexual in nature.

The student reportedly told law officers she and Tennial had kissed and he touched her breast outside of her bra while they were alone in his office on one occasion. A count of lewd molestation was dismissed Tuesday and a count of sexual battery was dismissed in October, 2013.

Tennial pleaded guilty to five misdemeanor counts of lewd and indecent electronic communication.

Judge William C. Kellough sentenced him to a year in the Tulsa County Jail with credit for time served on each count, to be run consecutively.
