Storms brought some much needed rain across Green Country Sunday afternoon, but it quickly turned into too much of a good thing in some areas. And high winds also caused some damage to trees and power lines.
Power had been restored to all Public Service of Oklahoma customers by Monday afternoon.
Flooding overwhelmed some roadways in south Tulsa and Jenks. We measured winds up to 70 miles per hour. Rain and wet streets may have contributed to a three-car accident on Highway 169 at the Broken Arrow Expressway at about 6 a.m.
Power lines and trees were snapped in Jenks. One viewer in Jenks sent in pictures of large trees that were split.
A News On 6 crew spotted downed power lines in Jenks. Sunday afternoon, 121st Street was blocked off between Elm and Elwood, as PSO crews made repairs.
As the storms moved through, the heavy rain caused some problems for drivers, as well.
On South Elm Street at the Creek Turnpike, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a car hydroplaned and went off the road, through a chain-link fence and into a ditch, where it rolled onto its side. Troopers say the driver was taken to an area hospital and is expected to be okay.
