Muskogee Woman Frustrated To See Dangerous Prank Happen Again

A Green Country family knows first-hand how dangerous it can be when someone tosses something from an overpass.

In an instant, a truck driver was seriously injured when concrete came smashing through his cab. Gerald Webb survived, but just barely.

I talked to his daughter, who said she's frustrated that it happened again to someone else Monday night.

When Tammy Brewer found out someone had dropped concrete from an overpass in Tulsa, it made her angry and disgusted.

Back in 2008, someone did the same thing, and her dad was the unfortunate target.

"There's no sense in it, it's childish, it's immature," Brewer said.

In '08, part of a concrete cemetery marker came crashing down from an overpass on the Cherokee Turnpike, onto the windshield of Gerald Webb's big rig.

"People don't understand that can kill people and destroy people's entire lives," Brewer said.

Her dad survived, but was left severely injured and facing months of physical therapy.

When I talked to Webb in 2008, he couldn't lift his arm above his waist and lost full use of his fingers.

"It takes a toll on your whole family. It's not just that person that was injured, it's everybody in the whole family," Brewer said.

He didn't lose his life, but Webb, who died in 2010 from cancer, lost quality of life in the two years after the incident. He told me then, what happened to him didn't make any sense. And now, it doesn't make sense to Webb's daughter, either. After what her dad went through, it's easy to see why the family is upset that it has happened again.

"I don't understand why you would want to hurt somebody or try to take somebody else's life or even injure them for a thrill," Brewer said.

Brewer said, despite having to give up his career as a truck driver, and although he struggled to recover, he tried to make the best of the situation.

She just doesn't want anyone else to go through what her dad went through.

"I just don't understand why people want to hurt other people," she said.

Three people, including two juveniles, were arrested in the case where Webb was injured. But his daughter said it was just a slap on the wrist and she wants tougher penalties enacted.
