A Muldrow man has been sentenced to two life in prison terms for the shooting deaths of his parents.

The Times Record reports that 51-year-old Kevin Paul Statham was sentenced Thursday to life without parole for the July 2011 deaths of 69-year-old Helen Ruth Statham and 70-year-old Paul Everette Statham.

Kevin Statham pleaded no contest last month to first-degree murder charges in a plea deal with prosecutors -- who dropped their request for the death penalty in the case.

Statham asked the court to immediately send him to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. His family declined comment.

Prosecutors say Statham shot his parents, stole his mother's purse and father's wallet and drove to North Dakota where he was eventually arrested.
