Students and staff at Oral Roberts University gathered Wednesday to say goodbye to their president.
A special farewell chapel was held for Mark Rutland. Rutland took over for Richard Roberts in 2009.
During Rutland's tenure, the university says it underwent a "great transformation." The school says he helped increase enrollment and pay down debt.
"It's not a demeaning or humiliating thing to just be the guy that tidies up," Rutland said. "It is a great task, a wonderful task, and it is a Christ-like task."
Billy Wilson will take over for Rutland this July, as the school's fourth president.
