Missouri Jury Finds Nowata Man Guilty Of Assault, Kidnapping

A McDonald County, Missouri jury in Pineville found a 33-year-old Nowata County man guilty of two counts each of assault and kidnapping in connection with a December 2011 incident outside of Joplin.

Johnny Ray Davis was arrested outside a Joplin hospital after two women, ages 30 and 40, told authorities they had been abducted near a Joplin truck stop, taken into Oklahoma, assaulted and then returned to Missouri.

Davis was convicted and served time in an Oklahoma prison in a 1998 rape case out of Craig County.

His sentencing for the Missouri conviction will be May 1, 2013.
