A Tulsa facility helping Alzheimer's patients in our area is getting ready to celebrate a major milestone.
Autumn Leaves is a memory care facility in south Tulsa that opened one year ago, Thursday.
Their goal is to provide residents with a home-like environment, in a building that is specially designed to help dementia patients remember where they are.
Each resident's room even has a specially designed memory box with a family memento and a picture.
"Maybe a picture of them in what stage of dementia they are in, right now. So, it might be a picture of them in their 40s and it might be a resident who is 80 years old, but that's where they see themselves now," said April Bradford, of Autumn Leaves.
More than 100 families have relied on Autumn Leaves over the last year.
The facility at 7807 South Mingo Road is inviting the public to an anniversary bash and free gourmet dinner, Thursday, November 8, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
