Camille Pelley and Claire Hulcer each scored to lead Tulsa to a 2-1 victory against UTEP on Sunday afternoon at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
With the victory, TU moved to 6-4-2 on the season and picked up their first league win to move to 1-2-1 in Conference USA, while UTEP fell to 7-6 overall and 0-4 in the league.
Pelley netted her third goal on the season with just 3:19 ticked off the clock as she threaded the ball through the left side into the right bottom corner off a combination from Claire Nicholson and Jordan O'Brien. Hulcer gave the Hurricane a two-goal cushion as she drilled in a free kick from 20 yards out into the center of the net.
Tess Hall put the Miners on the board in the 53rd minute as she scored off a free kick from 22 yards out, but Tulsa held on to the one goal lead for the win.
Hulcer, Rebecca Handley and Emily Hahn each had two shots in the contest, while five others had attempts. Katie Bykowski played all 90 minutes between the posts and picked up 10 saves.
UTEP had a 19-11 lead in shots, including an 11-4 advantage in shots on goal, and a 6-1 lead in corner kicks.
Tulsa will return to action against UCF on Friday in Orlando, Fla.
