Broken Arrow Public Schools celebrates the start of new construction at the Senior High School.
Students and faculty strapped on hard hats for a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday morning.
The celebration marked the start of construction on a new addition to the school.
It includes art rooms, locker rooms, computer labs and a new media center for BATV.
"When you drive by and you see all the things that we're doing," superintendent Jarod Mendenhall said. "We're already very successful in the things that we do but this just enhances those opportunities for kids and that's what we're here to do."
The $27 million project is funded by a bond residents approved in 2009.
It's part of an overall $73 million upgrade to the Broken Arrow school system.
