The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals Friday set an execution date of March 15, 2012 for a Jenks man convicted in the death of his wife in 1996.

Death row inmate Timothy Stemple, 46, was convicted and sentenced to death for the murder of his wife, Trisha J. Stemple, 30, on October 24, 1996.

During his Tulsa County trial, evidence showed the victim had been hit multiple times with a baseball bat and repeatedly run over with Stemple's pickup truck and left for dead along a Tulsa highway.

Attorney General Scott Pruitt made the request on January 9, 2012 after the United States Supreme Court denied Stemple's final appeal
