Alleged Burglar Shot During Business Break-In Near Schulter

Five people were captured in a manhunt Saturday afternoon south of Okmulgee. A business owner says he shot one of the juveniles breaking into his salvage yard.

A Saturday afternoon business break-in and shooting left one person wounded near Schulter in Okmulgee County.

Okmulgee County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a gunshot victim about 2 p.m. at A&A Auto Salvage in the 21000 block of South 236 Road.

The business owner told deputies he had interrupted six individuals who were in the process of burglarizing his business. One of the alleged burglars was shot. The other five fled the area.

The person who was shot was airlifted to a Tulsa hospital.

The five other suspects were located during a manhunt by officers of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Creek Nation Lighthorse, the Henryetta Police Department, and investigators from the district attorney's office.

The OSBI will assist the Okmulgee County Sheriff's Office with the investigation.
