Layoffs Underway As McAlester Window Plant Shuts Its Doors

The first layoffs occurred on November 11, 2011 and more are scheduled in December as Simonston Windows shuts down the plant.

The layoffs at a McAlester window factory have begun and will continue in the month of December. 

On September 2, 2011, Simonton Windows announced it would be closing its McAlester facility, leaving more than 250 workers without a job.

The first layoffs occurred on November 11, 2011 and more are scheduled in December as Simonton Windows shuts down the plant.

The city of McAlester held a job fair earlier this month and the Workforce Oklahoma office in McAlester says it will gear up to help Simonton workers after they get their pink slips.

Services provided by Workforce Oklahoma include advice on subjects ranging from job seeking to interviewing.

The McAlester plant manufactured new construction and replacement windows.
