A former state prison food service supervisor has been charged with five counts of sexual battery of a prison inmate.

Taft resident Sherika Bowler, 29, was charged Monday in Muskogee County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Bowler had sexual relations with a female inmate in the Eddie Warrior Correctional Center in Taft between March and September of this year.

The affidavit states Bowler and the inmate had sexual encounters in the prison's food service office, the kitchen's walk-in cooler and in a staff bathroom.  Bowler is also accused of sending the inmate two money orders under a fictitious name.

Bowler, who admitted to the acts in the affidavit, is currently free on a $20,000 bond pending a December 5, 2011, court hearing.

The inmate was in prison on several drug-related convictions out of Okmulgee County.
