TULSA, Oklahoma – After a 36-point blowout loss to Booker T. Washington Friday, the Tulsa Memorial Chargers responded with a big win of their own Saturday. They beat Oklahoma City Southeast 73-52 to advance to state.
In the first half, the Southeast Spartans were able to stay within striking distance, trailing by 15 at the break. But the second half would belong to the Chargers, whose lead swelled to 19 by the end of the third quarter.
They would have won by 25, if not for two late buckets by the Spartans against an indifferent defense. C.J. Wells of Memorial led all scorers with 28 points, while Demari Edwards pitched in with 16.
The Spartans are eliminated from the playoffs, while Memorial will play in the State Quarter Finals next Thursday at Oral Roberts University.
