TULSA, Oklahoma – The Metro Christian Patriots continue their run through the playoffs by beating the previously undefeated Anadarko Warriors, 42-33 Friday night. The Patriots have now won nine of their past ten games.
The Patriots played with a lot of energy in the first half. Quarterback Andrew Hearon completed his first four passes of the game to move MCA into the Anadarko redzone. After coverting a fourth-and-1 at the Warriors’ 3-yard line, Hearon hit Drew Hillenburg on an underneath route for an easy score.
The Warriors scored on their next possession in the first quarter when Sheldon Wilson bolted 64 yards to the endzone to pull to with one point. Anadarko missed the extra point and would eventually trail at halftime, 21-14.
Metro Christian scored another three touchdowns in the second half to put the Warriors (12-1) away. The loss was the first of the year for Anadarko, who came into the game averaging over 40 points per game.
Metro Christian has redeemed itself for the embarrassing home loss in the first round of the playoffs a year ago. The unbeaten Patriots fell to an underdog Dewey squad. This season, MCA has outscored its opponents 93-61 through the first three rounds of the playoffs.
Metro advances to the final four in Class 3A. They will take on 2A-runners up from a year ago, Kingfisher (9-3) in next week’s fourth round matchup.
