OKLAHOMA CITY—The Moss boys basketball team moved up to Class A, and the expectations of success move with them entering the 2010-11 season.
Coach Chris Jones begins his fourth year with Moss and has four returning starters back this year along with eight of their top ten players returning.
“Moving up to Class A, we have a tremendous task ahead of us now, but our goals haven’t changed, we believe our schedule prepares us every year for a rugged playoff run and so the expectations for us are the same as they were for Class B,” said Jones.
Senior Ben Larney, a three year starter averaged 10 points and eight rebounds last season while Zach Tiger, a four year starter on the perimeter for the Pirates averaged four points and three assists.
Coach Jones said their strength lies in their defense, leadership and threats. With two quick shooting guards that make defenses come out to try and cover them, backed by the great senior leadership already demonstrated, the Pirates aim high for this season.
“The great senior leadership is really helping the younger guys and is what is continually making us better,” said Jones.
