MOORE, Oklahoma -- The Norman North Huskies evaded a third-straight loss by driving in a one-yard run to beat the Westmoore Jaguars 20-14 in overtime.

The Huskies’ defense plowed through and sacked Jaguar’s quarterback No. 4 Lionard Fombe. It was all the shift of momentum the Huskies needed to gain control of the game and clinch the win.

Norman North’s Brad Valentino handed the ball off to running back Raymond Demby, who was tackled on the one yard line. The Huskies again handed the ball off to Zac Pierce for the easy touchdown, winning the game.

The Huskies suffered two early-season losses to Norman and Del City, but looked to rebound against Westmoore.

It was a battle of the defenses in the first few quarters, as the two teams held off any effective offense. Norman North was the first within scoring distance, as they drove to the 18 yard line. Redford Jones hit a post on the field goal, missing the chance to take a lead.

The second quarter heated up when Norman North scored twice. The team’s first touchdown came when Valentine threw a seven yard pass to sophomore tight end Jaxon Uhles, as the Huskies took a 7-0 lead. Emilio Gatewood carried most of the offensive load in the second quarter, scoring on a one-yard handoff to the left side. He ran down the sideline for a touchdown to bring the score to 14-0.

The Jags battled back though, making it a tied ballgame in the fourth, but were not able to hold off the Huskies through overtime.
