OKLAHOMA CITY -- Last season, the John Marshall Bears were coming off consecutive winless seasons and hoping for a turnaround. Nine wins and a two-game playoff run later, the Bears are looking to continue the new standard that they set in 2009.
The Bears held opponents to single-digit scoring in six games in 2009 and return linebackers Denzal Johnson and Delonte Scroggins add size and speed to the interior of the defense.
Junior quarterback Dion Vickers has two years as a backup under his belt and knows the system well enough to pilot the John Marshall to success in District 3, while freshman quarterback Davion Smith should push him for the starting spot.
