Funeral Service Held for Santa Fe South Football Coach

EDMOND, Oklahoma -- A funeral service was held for Santa Fe South head football coach Mike Cartmill Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Edmond. Cartmill died at his home Sunday.

Cartmill served as the Saints head coach since 2005 and was a teacher at the school.

"Coach Cartmill was a coach in the true sense of the word," Santa Fe South teacher Chauncey Shillow said. "In the classroom, at home, in the hallway, he was a coach. He wanted to make you a better person."

Coach Cartmill was also the head baseball coach. He leaves behind a wife, Janet, who was also the schools secretary, and three children.

"I know we will see him soon," son JJ Cartmill said. "I love you dad. See you soon."

The cause of coach Cartmill's death is still unknown.
