TULSA, Oklahoma – The Booker T. Washington Hornets advanced to the 5A quarterfinals after a 61-47 win over Western Heights Thursday afternoon. A balanced offensive attack carried the Hornets to the final four in the state.
The Hornets never really met any resistance from the Jets. Tharone Chilton led all scorers with 22 points. The senior also distributed the ball to his teammates when Western Heights brought an extra defender his way. Korey Billbury and Juwan Parker combined for 22 points in the win.
The Jets never threatened the Hornets in the second half. The Hornets kept the lead at or above double digits most of the half. Devin Aughenbauder led his team with 12 points. Dustin Giles scored 11 and DJ Taylor added 10 for the Jets.
Booker T. ends Western Heights’ season. The Hornets won their 18th win of the season and will face the East Central Cardinals at ORU’s Mabee Center on Friday at 6 p.m.
