SAPULPA, Oklahoma -- The McAlester Buffaloes came back from a seven-point halftime deficit to knock off the Carl Albert Lady Titans 43-42. With the win, McAlester advances to the Class 5A state semifinals.
Both teams played even throughout the first quarter, but the Lady Titans took a seven-point lead late in the second quarter and went into the locker room up 24-17.
Kylie Mayes led the Titans with four 3-pointers and led all scorers at the half with 12.
The Lady Buffaloes started the second half on a 5-0 run to close the gap to 24-22, but Carl Albert responded with five of its own and ended the third leading 34-29.
Late in the fourth, Lesley Huff scored six-straight points on back-to-back 3-pointers to close the lead to 36-35.
McAlester played press defense for the final minutes of the game, and with 16.2 seconds left hit a long two-pointer to take the 43-42 lead.
