TULSA, Oklahoma – The East Central Cardinals jumped out to a huge first half lead and never let up against the Bishop Kelley Comets in a 67-27 win. The blowout earned the Cardinals the 5A East Region 3 title.
Andrew Wilson scored a game-high 13 points to pace East Central. Damion Hooks and Cody Colbert also scored in double figures for the Cardinals.
The Cardinals played outstanding defense from the start. Bishop Kelley scored seven points in the first quarter and only managed four points in the second quarter. East Central led by 19 at halftime.
East Central is ranked third in Class 5A this season and has won four games in a row, including a 61-34 win over Will Rogers Friday night. The Cardinals outscored their opponents by 67 points during regional play.
Bishop Kelley lost for the first time since mid-February. Donnie Walton scored six points to lead the Comets Saturday night. Sam Hinson added five points.
Both teams advance to the area round of the 5A tournament. East Central will face Edison in the next round. Second round action will begin on Friday, March 5th.
