All Aboard For The All-College

The All-College Classic is Monday night at the Ford Center.  OU will play UTEP in the opener.  OSU gets LaSalle in the late game.  I have heard some complaints that the opponents for the Cowboys and Sooners are not that good.

We tend to get spoiled when we see the likes of Gonzaga, Pitt, Tennessee and West Virginia come to the Ford Center for that event, but it’s hard to get teams to go on the road and play a “neutral” site game around the holidays.

Let’s not discard this year’s opponents so fast.  UTEP is picked third in Conference USA behind Tulsa and Memphis who will both likely make the NCAA tournament.  LaSalle has only three losses and those are on the road at South Carolina, Villanova and Kansas.  Not too shabby.

Besides, I can remember as a kid filing into the Myriad to watch Wayman, Billy and the boys beat Texas-San Antonio by half a hundred at the All College.  Wayman scored 61 and everybody left happy.  So take some time out of the Christmas shopping and join us all at the Ford Center.
