Cowgirls Outlast Red Raiders in Eight Innings

STILLWATER, Okla. – A battle between two ranked teams lived up to its hype on Saturday in Stillwater.
The 19th-ranked Cowgirls took on No. 25 Texas Tech and came away with a 2-1 win in eight innings.
After a lengthy pitching battle, Mariah Gearhart made it easy for the Cowgirls, doubling in the eighth and then advancing to third on a throwing error.
With no outs, Ari Morrison quickly stepped up to the plate and sac-flied out to left field, scoring Gearhart to end the game.
Kat Espinosa pitched the complete game for the Cowgirls, giving up five hits and Tech’s only run of the day.
Tech pitcher Kelsey Dennis, who got the loss, threw 7.1 innings and gave up six hits.
OSU’s only other run of the game came in the third inning, when Ashley Boyd homered to left.
The Red Raiders’ run game in the top of the fifth on a single from Holley Gentsch, driving in Logan Hall.
The two teams will meet again at Noon on Sunday in Stillwater.
