OKLAHOMA CITY -- A season ago, Oklahoma City gained national recognition for the noise the fans made during the Thunder’s playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers.

With the Thunder hosting the first round of the Western Conference playoffs, NBA scoring champion Kevin Durant issued a challenge to all of the fans in Oklahoma City.

“I don’t think they can get any louder than they did last year, but that is a challenge to everybody,” Durant said. “That’s one thing we’ve all been talking about, running out of that tunnel and seeing how it is.”

Despite the challenge issued by his star player, head coach Scott Brooks said he knows as long as fans can get to a comparable level that the advantage will still be there.

“If they can just get to [the same] level, that would be great,” Brooks said. “That playoff atmosphere from last year, I just can’t imagine it getting any better than that. If it does, it will blow all of us away.”
