TULSA, Okla. – It’s a big deal when a franchise is able to draft a player that will truly make an impact on how a team plays.
The Tulsa Shock management is predicting – and with good reason – that Elizabeth Cambage is going to be that player.
General Manager and coach Nolan Richardson was on hand on Tuesday to introduce Cambage to the media for the first time as a member of the Shock.
Tulsa took Cambage, a 6-7 post player from Australia, with the second overall pick in the WNBA Draft on Monday.
Richardson said that from the day Tulsa found out its pick, there was no question about the direction it was going to go.
“We dreamed of weeks like this where you could start bringing in those types of players and putting the pieces together,” he said.
Cambage and Richardson spoke to the media following the team’s introduction at the Children’s Hospital at Saint Francis on Tuesday.
