STILLWATER, Okla. – Even with the historical success of OSU baseball, it’s been three years since the Cowboys pulled off what they did on Sunday.
Oklahoma State beat Missouri 7-3 to complete a series sweep in conference play for the first time since April 27, 2008, when it swept Kansas.
OSU has now already matched its conference win total from last season as it improves to 8-4 (24-8 Overall).
Cowboy pitcher Randy McCurry got off to a rough start, giving up two solo home runs in the top of the first.
But Dane Phillips responded for OSU, sending a two-run shot of his own over the wall to tie the game in the bottom of the first.
From there, it was almost all Oklahoma State, including a five-run fourth inning to take control of the game.
Phillips had four RBIs, two hits and two runs to lead a solid offensive day for the Cowboys.
Andrew Heaney got the win, throwing 2.2 innings and giving up three hits and a run after taking over for McCurry.
OSU will return to action with a non-conference matchup against Arkansas-Little Rock on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
