Buzzer-Beater Lifts Tulsa Over Oral Roberts
The Golden Hurricane overcame a late deficit to top the Golden Eagles Tuesday.

TULSA, Oklahoma -- A last-second jumper by Tatum Beer lifted the Tulsa womens' basketball team to an 86-85 win over the Golden Eagles Tuesday.
The Golden Hurricane strung together a 16-4 run in the last three minutes – including two three-point shots by Beer – to battle back from an 81-70 deficit.
Both teams played evenly to start the game, but trailing three points with seven minutes left in the half, Tulsa started an 11-2 run to take a 35-29 lead.
Oral Roberts answered with seven straight points to take the lead with 2:40 left in the first half, but Tulsa added six consecutive in the last two minutes to take a 41-36 lead going into the locker room.
After Tulsa tacked on four points to start the lead, Oral Roberts responded with a 19-2 run – including eight from Georgia Jones – to take a 57-47 lead. A 10-point lead that would last until Tulsa’s late run.
Tulsa’s Taleya Mayberry tied for the game’s top point total with 30 points. She also grabbed six rebounds and five assists in the win. Loren McDaniel chipped in 17 points, eight rebounds and two assists.
Kevi Luper paced the Golden Eagles, scoring 30 points and grabbing nine rebounds, while Jordan Pyle recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
