In the fourth at-bat of the inning, Jeff Baisley hit a sacrifice fly to left field to bring J.C. Holt home. Two at-bats later, Shane Peterson singled to right field to bring Josh Horton home and take a 2-1 lead. The Rockhounds padded their lead in the next inning with a Horton RBI single to center to bring Matthew Sulentic home.

Anthony Capra (3-6) pitched five innings for Midland, surrendering two earned runs on four hits in the win. Tulsa got four innings of service from Christian Friederich (0-2), who surrendered 10 hits and three earned runs.

Tulsa closed the lead to a single run in the bottom of the fifth when Jackson grounded out to short stop to bring Bronson Sardinha home, but wouldn’t threaten again.

The Drillers and the Rockhounds will continue their series at 7 p.m. Thursday in Midland.
