PORTLAND, Oregon – Oklahoma City’s rally fell short as the RedHawks go down 6-5 against Portland.
Oklahoma City pulled to within one run of Portland on the strength of a three-run seventh inning. Chris Davis doubled in Esteban German to start the scoring. Davis would be the next to score on a Brandon Boggs double and Boggs would score on the next play to make it a 6-5 game.
The RedHawks scored two runs in the previous inning but Portland responded by scoring two of its own in the bottom of the sixth.
Craig Cooper and Sean Kazmar crossed the plate in the third inning to put Portland on top 4-0. An Esteban German error in the second allowed the first two runs of the game to score.
Tommy Hunter (1-1) gets tagged with the loss for the RedHawks after surrendering six earned runs in 5.2 innings. Radhames Liz (4-1) earned the win for Portland, allowing just two earned runs in 5.2 innings.
The two teams continue their series at 9:05 p.m. Friday.
