NORMAN, Oklahoma --Oklahoma will host a send-off celebration for the women's basketball team Wednesday as they head down to San Antonio for the Final Four. The school is asking fans to arrive by 3:15 p.m. and park in the south lots of the Lloyd Noble Center. The Sooners will leave the LNC via the south ramp at 3:30 to depart for Texas.
Oklahoma head football coach Bob Stoops and Athletic Director Joe Castiglione gave high praise to the Sooners' second straight Final Four appearance.
"Really excited about it," Stoops said. "[They] really competed well after a tough start this year and the coach has done an awesome job. The players responded and in the second half it’s fun to see them peaking that way."
The Sooners defeated Kentucky 88-68 Tuesday and will face top-seeded Stanford at 6 p.m. Sunday.
"Seeing what has been achieved to this point is something to behold," Castiglione said. "It doesn't happen very often. We shoot for it every year, but it is really a great achievement up to this point."
The winner of the OU-Stanford game will face the winner of the Baylor-UConn game Tuesday for the national championship.
