TULSA, Oklahoma -- The Tulsa Golden Hurricane couldn’t hold on to its game-long lead and fell to the University of Alabama Birmingham in the first round of the Conference USA women's tournament, 52-45.
TU was up 27-20 at halftime and led by as much as 10 points in the second half before faltering late in the game.
After UAB cut the Golden Hurricane lead to two points with an 11-4 run, Amanda Peterson hit two free throws to tie the game at 43. A shot from three-point range by Peterson gave UAB its first lead of the game, and Tamika Dukes hit a jump shot to extend that lead to five with just a minute on the clock.
Larrissa Williams fouled out with 10 seconds left in the game after fouling Meagan Brown, who made one of her two free throw attempts to seal the game. Williams ended the game with 11 points and 7 rebounds, short of her season average of 17 points and 9 rebounds.
Dukes earned a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
TU ends its season with a 12-16 record.
