SKIATOOK, Oklahoma -- Skiatook Public Schools has a new superintendent.
Members of the Skiatook Public School Board named Rick Thomas to the position. Thomas was formerly the superintendent at Oologah-Talala schools.
"I'm very excited," he said. "Looking forward to started, getting to know the community, getting to know the teachers."
The district has been without a superintendent since Dr. Gary Johnson resigned last year over allegations the school district spent too much money on supplies and equipment.
"I think people here are ready for a new direction, ready to move forward, ready to put behind what's happened," Thomas said. "There's going to be some things that we have to get through, things that we have to work through, but with all of us working together we can make it happen."
