JENKS, Oklahoma -- Tulsans celebrated history in the making as Governor-Elect Mary Fallin spent the evening at the Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks Saturday.
The Jenks event was just part of Fallin's pre inaugural ceremonies which began Saturday morning at the Science Museum Oklahoma in Oklahoma city.
Fallin arrived at the aquarium around 8 p.m. She was surrounded by family and friends as she greeted guests and talked to hundreds of supporters.
She will take the oath of office at Noon Monday, but for now she says she is enjoying this weekend's festivities.
"The neat thing is, this is such a great venue that Oklahomans from across the state wanted to come to Jenks to come to the Jenks and Tulsa ball here at the aquarium, it's a great place," Fallin said.
The Governor-Elect said she is looking forward to getting in office and starting on her mission of creating of jobs in Oklahoma.
Chairman of the Oklahoma Democratic Party, Todd Goodman, released a statement Saturday:
We wish Gov. Elect Fallin the best of luck as she prepares to take office. We have a wonderful and diverse state that is facing a myriad of tough challenges. It is only by working together that we can move forward together…
There will be a prayer service Sunday in Oklahoma City. The inaugural ball will be held Monday night at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.
