TULSA---A group of youth firefighters from Tulsa's sister-city Celle, Germany is in town for a few weeks.
‘In Germany you can be a young firefighter if you are 10 years old,' said Celle Fire Chief Dirk Heindorff, ‘you learn how to do fire fighting, and if you are 16 years old you can be a real firefighter.'
The Tulsa Fire Department Training Center hosted the young firefighters this week and put them through FD training Tulsa style.
‘We're going to do some search and rescue drills with the youth firefighters, let them try and find stuffed animals, let them put on the Fire Department uniforms,' said Debra Bailey, Assistant Fire Marshal, ‘we're also going to have a combat challenge where they'll get to squirt some water, run up and down our fire tower and also climb some ladders.'
The German Firefighters will also be attending Tulsa's Oktoberfest.
